FAQ

Co-managed IT questions, answered plainly

The questions IT managers, IT directors and the executives they report to ask us most.

What is co-managed IT?

It's an arrangement where your internal IT staff and an outside IT provider share responsibility for your environment. Your team keeps control and decides what to hand off. The provider covers agreed areas, such as after-hours support, security monitoring or projects.

How is it different from a fully managed IT service?

With fully managed IT, the provider is your IT department. With co-managed IT, you have your own IT staff and the provider works alongside them under a written split of responsibilities.

What size company is co-managed IT for?

It usually fits companies with about 50 to 500 employees that have one IT person or a small team. Larger teams use it too, mostly for security operations and specialist projects.

Who decides what you take on?

Your IT lead, with input from leadership. We suggest a split based on ticket volume, coverage gaps and risk, but the final responsibility matrix is something your team approves.

Will you make changes without telling us?

No. Changes follow the approval rules in your responsibility matrix. Routine, pre-approved work, such as password resets or containing an active threat under an agreed playbook, is logged so your team can see it. Everything else goes through your team first.

Do you provide after-hours support?

Yes. Evening, weekend and holiday coverage is one of the most common things teams hand off. We agree in advance what we resolve on our own and when we call someone on your team.

Can our staff see what you're doing?

Yes. Your team gets access to the shared ticketing, monitoring, security consoles and documentation, so they can see every ticket and alert we worked.

What happens if our IT manager leaves?

Because we already work in your environment and keep documentation current, we can keep things running while you hire, and help the new person get up to speed quickly.

How is co-managed IT priced?

It's a flexible monthly agreement scoped to what you hand off, such as coverage hours, devices monitored and services included. Projects are scoped and quoted separately. You get a written proposal after we've reviewed your environment.

Do you work on site?

Yes. Most co-managed work is remote, but our engineers are based in Alpharetta and work on site across metro Atlanta, including Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Marietta, Duluth, Johns Creek and Cumming, for projects, hardware and anything that's easier in person.

Your team stays in charge

Give your IT team a bench, not a replacement

One conversation with your IT lead is enough to sketch a split: which tickets, hours, security tasks and projects we'd take, and which stay in-house.
